Renovated Stable — Falmouth / Cape Cod

This extensive renovation involved taking down the present home to reclaim and revitalize an original 1870 barn structure. The labor of love project took over two years to complete. Originally built on granite pilings to support the weight of horses, the structure of the barn was similar to a suspension bridge without interior load-bearing walls and the second story suspended by a truss system with four rods.

Boasting a notable history, the original 1948 home conversion was highlighted in the Boston Globe touting its ‘state of the art’ features.

The restoration was large-scale, recreating the primary home along with executing a master plan for the property to include a pool and eventually house a one-bedroom cottage. Careful attention was taken to keep anything uncovered or original to the barn to be creatively reused or repurposed.

Resources used for this project include;

Anderson Windows

Thermador appliances

Sherwin-Williams paint

The outcome of this project is a special, meaningful home that honors the past and celebrates the present.
